Lukashenko says agrees with Putin to keep $1 bln credit

MINSK, Aug 27 (PRIME) – Belarus will not repay a U.S. $1billion loan to Russia and will use the money to prop up its currency, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Thursday, according to newswire Belta.

"We have agreed with the president of Russia and our prime minister will hold negotiations today with (Prime Minister of Russia) Mikhail Mishustin on refinancing," Lukashenko said.

“I mean we will keep the billion dollars on agreement with Russia. It will be good support for our national currency.”
